Can Marriage and the Family Survive?

The Austin Institute strives to stay at the forefront of Texas’s vibrant intellectual life: forming students, faculty, staff, as well as the larger community in exploring perennial questions of the good life, the importance of the family in society, and the larger context of human flourishing. The institute is also a national source for rigorous social science research, with a special emphasis on questions of family, sexuality, social structures and human relationships.  From sponsoring vigorous debates to hosting regular reading groups, from publishing new studies to highlighting thoughtful research for the public, our vision is to create a better-informed, more intelligent public discourse.

Dr. DeAnn Stuart

Associate Director, Austin Institute

"DeAnn Stuart earned her B.A. and M. Hum. from the University of Dallas and her Ph.D. in English Literature from Baylor University. Over the years, she has presented her original research at multiple national conferences, has received various teaching awards at the middle school, high school, and college levels, and has taught on various aspects of the Catholic faith in several cities throughout Texas. Currently, she works as Associate Director at the Austin Institute for the Study of Family and Culture, where she engages the most pressing cultural issues of our day through research, local programming, and curriculum development. When she’s not working, DeAnn loves to host dinners with her husband, to plan trips to faraway places, and to go on long hikes.”
